DIRECTV NOW Users on iOS/tvOS Begin to Get New User Interface, Expanded On Demand Content and More

Android, Fire TV and Roku to follow in coming weeks

We’re beginning to roll out a new look and feel to the DIRECTV NOW app – along with new features that you’re going to love.

The new experience is rolling out today on recent-generation iOS/tvOS devices and supported web browsers and will be available for recent-generation Android, Fire TV, and Roku over the coming weeks.

With the updated app, you’ll enjoy things like:

New Look. We changed up the look and feel of the app, putting your most-watched channels and favorite programs front and center. You can even view your current stream while browsing for something that you might want to watch next.

Expanded On Demand Content. Depending on your subscription choices, get access to more than 25,000 titles on DIRECTV NOW. Not enough for you? We’ve added more capacity so you can watch even more on-demand entertainment to your heart’s desire. New episodes on select channels will be available on-demand after airing, so you don’t have to worry about setting up a recording prior.

Up to Three Streams at Once. Enjoy access to up to three simultaneous different streams per account. Don’t want to watch cartoons with the kids? Sick of your spouse’s love for reality TV? Don’t worry – we’ve got you covered beyond the standard two streams with a third stream for $5 per month.

True Cloud DVR (beta). Twenty hours of free recording is currently available today as we continue to evolve our beta testing of the Cloud DVR feature and expand availability to all DIRECTV NOW customers. Record your favorites and watch virtually anytime you want for up to 30 days on your compatible smartphone, tablet or connected big screen at home. Record an entire series or just one episode on almost all our channels. Fast forward and rewind at will. No need for a box at home or to use up the memory in your smartphone – it’s all in the cloud! What you’ll see today is just the start. We’re working on rolling out more capacity options and features later this summer—which will let you keep more on your Cloud DVR for longer. You’ll be able to record up to 100 hours and keep it stored up to 90 days, for $10 per month.

Local Channels on the Road. Before, you only were able to access the local networks via DIRECTV NOW at home. Now, if you want to catch local news while you travel, you’ll be able to. For example, if you watch FOX (KTTV) on DIRECTV NOW at home in Los Angeles and are traveling to Dallas, where FOX (KDFW) station is available for DIRECTV NOW customers, you’ll be able to watch KDFW during your visit.

These are just a few of the many new features that our customers will enjoy starting today. We’ve got a lot more coming as we start to deliver new features and enhanced services faster than ever before.
