What User ID and Password do I use for the beta?

You will use your myAT&T User ID and Password that you used during beta signup. If you have any issues please refer to the Troubleshooting section. For your existing DIRECTV NOW app you will continue to use the same User ID/Password you already have setup.

Amazon Fire TV/Stick

The Fire TV beta app is not compatible with 1st Gen Fire TV devices. Only 2nd Gen devices and above will be able to beta test on Fire TV.

To access the beta app on your Fire TV device please refer to the instruction email you were sent recently. If you can’t locate that email, please reach out to your DIRECTV NOW Care agents via chat, just as you would for issues related to your existing DIRECTV NOW app.

Roku

At this time the beta app is not availbale for testing on Roku. Once it's made available we will notify those who selected Roku during beta signup via email. After you receive that email check back here for further instructions. Until then, hang tight!

What devices and browsers are available for beta testing?

  • iPhone/iPad (iOS 10+, includes iOS 11)
  • Android Phone/Tablet (Lollipop version 5.0 and above)
  • Web (Chrome & Safari browser only)
  • Apple TV (4th generation)
  • Amazon Fire TV/Stick (2nd generation and above)
  • Chromecast - enabled casting coming soon!
  • Roku - coming soon!

Will other devices not listed above become available for testing?

Only the devices listed above will be available for beta testing, no new devices will be added.

Apple TV remote navigation

  • Swipe up from bottom on the touchpad to view menu items (i.e. Watch Now, My Library, Discover, Guide, etc…)
  • If your selection is on a video you can press the dedicated Play/Pause button to automatically play that video
  • If playing video, click the touchpad once to view your menu options (this includes REC function on the bottom right)

Amazon Fire TV remote navigation

  • Click UP or DOWN on the D-pad to view menu items (i.e. Watch Now, My Library, Discover, Guide, etc)
  • If your selection is on a video you can press the dedicated Play/Pause button to automatically play that video
  • If playing video, click the Select (center button in the D-Pad) to view your playback controls

What channels are included in the beta?

The package that you are currently subscribed to with your existing DIRECTV NOW service should be reflected in your beta app. If you recently upgraded your package it might take a couple days for the additional channels to appear in your beta app.

Where can I stream the beta app?

You can watch in all 50 of the United States as well as the District of Columbia. Unfortunately, we do not support US territories such as Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands, and you will be unable to access the beta app if you travel outside of the US.

Can I stream on more than one device during the beta?

Just like your existing DIRECTV NOW subscription, you will be able to stream on up to two devices simultaneously. This does not include the two streams you already have with the existing DIRECTV NOW app.

Can I use my beta User ID and Password to sign in to partner network websites and apps?

Please continue to use your existing DIRECTV NOW User ID and Password to sign in to partner network websites and apps. This might be the same as your beta user ID/password

What if I have questions or issues with my existing DIRECTV NOW app?

Please continue to visit the existing DIRECTV NOW Help Center for all items pertaining to your existing service.

How can I report issues or provide feedback?

On your mobile device or PC/MAC please click “Provide Feedback” under your settings cog () in the beta experience. Once you complete the feedback form all of that information is collected and sent directly to our development teams. Please note you will not receive an email confirmation that your feedback was received – you should receive that confirmation immediately after you’ve filled out the form.

Troubleshooting

What if I can’t download the beta app?

Should you have any issues downloading the beta app, please reach out to your DIRECTV NOW Care agents via chat, just as you would for issues related to your existing DIRECTV NOW app. Please note: upon first contacting an agent please make them aware you are looking for assistance with the 'DIRECTV NOW Beta app', so they're able to better assist you.

What if my User ID and Password don’t work for the beta app?

Please confirm that you are using your myAT&T User ID and Password that you used during beta signup. To retrieve or reset your myAT&T User ID/Password, please click here. Video does not stream when I access the beta web experience, what troubleshooting steps can I take on my own?

You could clear your browsing cache.
For Chrome: Navigate to the 3-dot menu button at the top right corner of your brower:

  1. Select 'Settings', then scroll down and click the drop-down 'Advanced' section
  2. In the last option under 'Privacy and Security' select 'Clear browsing data'
  3. Select the third option, 'Cached images and files'
  4. Click the 'Clear Browsing Data' blue button
*Please be advised that if HTML5 Autoplay is disabled via a Chrome extension that you won't be able to stream on the beta app. To disable or remove the Chrome extension please access the 3-dot menu button at the top right corner of your browser. Then:
  1. Click 'More Tools', then click 'Extensions'
  2. Click to disable any items named 'Disable HTML5 Autoplay'
For Safari: Click 'Safari' on the top finder menu bar:
  1. Select 'Preferences'
  2. Select 'Privacy' and then click 'Manage Website Data'
  3. Select 'Remove All' and then in the small popup, click 'Remove Now'

Streaming Video

Can I watch local channels from other parts of the country?

Watch local channels in your zip code. Your eligibility is dependent on your billing zip code, and your access depends on the physical location of the device.

How to save Favorite Channels

We heart you. Get your favorite channels and networks all in one spot:

  1. Go to the Watch Now section, then select the Guide.
  2. Scroll through the default All Channels live TV list.
  3. Select the Heart icon next to a channel to add it to your Favorite Channels list. Once selected the Heart icon is highlighted.

How to create and manage your Bookmarks

Your Bookmarks appear on the second tab of the My Library section. You can store up to 300 On Demand titles in your Bookmarks. To add items to your Bookmarks:

  1. For any On Demand title that interest you, click on the title of the video below the image.
  2. A content details page will popup, select the Pin icon to Add to Bookmarks.
Please note: Bookmarks are not available for live video – live video will be saved to your DVR recordings

Can I record shows to my DVR?

Yes! DVR access is one of the great new features available to you as a early-access beta participant.

Record a title airing now

  1. Select a currently airing title.
  2. On the bottom right of the video select the REC icon. You will see the icon change from white to red.
    1. If you’re on a mobile device you will have to click on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the video to select the REC icon.
Record a future airing
  1. From the Guide select a title that is airing in the future.
  2. A content details page will popup, select Record to add the title to your DVR Recordings – which you can manage in the My Library section.
Record a Series
  1. From an episode you're currently streaming, on the bottom right of the video select the REC icon. You will see an option to ‘record series’ when your record confirmation pop-up displays, select ‘record series’.
  2. From certain content detail pages you will see the option to ‘Record Series’, select that option to record the series.
PLEASE NOTE:
  1. Once a video has been fully recorded you can use the scrub bar to Fast Forward/Rewind to any point in the video.
  2. You are able to set recordings for future airing dates, but at this time you will not be able to view a playlist of your future recordings. This means those recordings will only appear in your DVR Playlist after they have been recorded.
  3. HBO, HBO Family, HBO Latino, and Cinemax channels are not available for live recording. You can easily access HBO and Cinemax On Demand videos by navigating to your 'Discovery' tab, and selecting the 'Networks' button. Please be aware if your existing DIRECTV NOW subscription does not include these channels that you will not be able to access these On Demand videos.

Can I restart programs already in process?

Tuned in late? The Restart feature lets you restart shows already in progress so that you don't miss a moment. Restart becomes available two minutes into a program and can be used within the Guide or in the video player options. How to use the Restart feature:

  1. Whenever you see a curved gray arrow icon this indicates Restart is available for that title.
  2. Select the Restart arrow to watch the title from the beginning.
Please note: once a show restarts you will not be able to use fast forward.

How do I use the 72 Hour Rewind feature?

Did you miss your favorite show? Catch up on what you missed with 72 Hour Rewind. As the name suggests, this feature lets you turn back the clock on select shows that aired within the last 72 hours. How to use the 72 Hour Rewind feature:

  1. Select a network from the Guide and scroll right to a previous time period.
  2. If available for 72 Hour Rewind the title will be highlighted in bold black text – titles not available will be grayed out.
  3. Make your selection and enjoy the show!

How do I enable closed captioning?

English language closed captions are available within the video player. To enable closed captioning:

  1. Access your Settings.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Select Captioning, then make your desired selections.
Please note: Chromecast users "Casting" content from a mobile device with Closed Captioning enabled must Toggle the mobile device screen in order to view captions on the TV screen.

Are parental controls available?

Parental controls are not available for the beta app. Please note, many devices have parental control settings. Access your device owner's manual or manufacturer's website for additional information.
